Miranda's Destiny Reviews
The Atlantis series - Book 1Kindle Edition ASIN: B004EEOEZ0This is a pretty good 'Earth girls get kidnapped for their destined mates' story, as well as the first book in a good series.Basically, Miranda has some psy-powers on Earth that cause others, except her best friend, Tempest, to avoid her growing up. Miranda doesn't know herself what her powers might be. A few years after high school, she and Tempest are kidnapped by a 'procurer' named Ethram, who finds the genetic mates for others across the known universe (for a fee, of course). So, I'm guessing they are in their early twenties at the time. The story is involved, and a little different than most. There are a few smex scenes, mostly between Zulien and Miranda, but those seem pretty tame compared to a lot of stuff I read in even 'mainstream' romance novels.I have read this book before. I seem to have both editions on my Kindle, and I am not sure what the differences are in each (it's been a few years), but if you are an adult, you probably want this one. Some of Ms Smith's standalone books are really extreme in sexual content and violence, but this series isn't what I would put in that category. The Candace Smith books and series are a mess on Goodreads. She has some books/covers labeled with the series and book number, but not all. I recommend these two series... they are different and entertaining to read more than once. Also, be sure to read the Atlantis series first, then read the Ark series. A page on her web site has them in order...http://www.candacebooks.com/There are characters in the books that recur, even if only in a minor way.
I really enjoyed this book. I also enjoyed Harvesting Rue. In Miranda's Destiny, I loved the way the guys Zulien and Taliquant were so silly in love with their mates. There was some pretty good suspense too. I like a book with a HEA. I also hope Candace Smith writes more in this series. I'd buy it.
